Jewellery Care

  Silver Jewellery Care

It is a natural characteristic of sterling silver to tarnish, especially when exposed to moisture and air. Tarnish is a chemical reaction that darkens the surface of the silver and is not a defect.

  • Storage is Key: Always store your silver jewellery in a dry place, away from humidity (like a bathroom).
  • Cleaning: Silver can be easily cleaned using a specialised silver polishing cloth.
  • Alternatively, you can gently wash it using warm, soapy water and a soft toothbrush. Always ensure the piece is dried thoroughly immediately after cleaning.
  • Silver Dip: While effective, silver dip solutions should be considered a last resort, not the first cleaning method.

Gold Vermeil & Gold Filled Jewellery Care

We exclusively use precious metals in our jewellery—never base metals. Our Gold Vermeil pieces use sterling silver as the base metal.

Gold Vermeil (18 Carat)

Our Gold Vermeil features a thick layer of three microns of 18 Carat gold bonded over sterling silver. This layer will eventually wear off over time, but proper care will significantly increase its longevity.

  • Protect the Gold Layer:
    • Avoid Moisture: To decrease the longevity of the gold layer, do not shower or swim while wearing Gold Vermeil jewellery.
    • Cleaning: You can gently wash your Gold Vermeil jewellery with a very light detergent and gently warm water. Always dry thoroughly afterward.
  • Re-Plating Service: We offer a re-plating service for your Gold Vermeil pieces.

This service is charged if the item is outside of the initial six months of purchase. With good care, your Gold Vermeil jewellery will last a long time!

14 Carat Gold Filled

We often use 14 Carat Gold-Filled material, especially for chains. This material is very long-lasting because it uses a different, much more durable bonding method compared to vermeil.

  • Durability: Gold-filled material is highly resistant to wear and should not tarnish.

General Storage Tips

  • Separate Metals: Please keep your silver jewellery separate from your gold and Gold Vermeil jewellery to prevent scratching and chemical interaction.
  • Keep it Dry: Always store all jewellery in a clean, dry, and secure location.
